This talk focuses on Java servlets, a server extension technology commonly used for creating dynamic web content. Jason will explain the role and advantages of servlets, comparing them to technologies such as CGI, FastCGI, and NSAPI/ISAPI. He'll then introduce the Servlet API and lifecycle, and show several servlets being put to practical use. The talk will conclude with an open discussion of advanced servlet topics to be determined by the audience.
Jason Hunter works as the chief technology officer of K&A Software, where he specializes in Java training and consulting. He is author of the book "Java Servlet Programming" (O'Reilly) and publisher of the Web site http://www.servlets.com. He also writes regularly for JavaWorld.
